چکیده

This paper describes an approach for reasoning about the repairability of workflows at design time. We propose a heuristic-based analysis of a workflow that aims at evaluating its definition, considering different design aspects and characteristics that affect its repairability (called repairability factors), in order to determine if the workflow schema supports repairable executions of its activities through the application of repair actions. The analysis intents to identify and evaluate the impact of critical design flaws affecting the repairability of workflows. The results of this analysis are fed back to the workflow designer and used to improve the repairability of the workflow by making appropriate changes

Using Ontological Reasoning and Planning for Data Mining Workflow Composition

This paper addresses the problem of semi-automatic design of workflows for complex knowledge discovery tasks. Assembly of optimized knowledge discovery workflows requires awareness of and extensive knowledge about the principles and mutual relations between diverse data processing and mining algorithms. We aim at alleviating this burden by automatically proposing workflows for the given type of...

The Effect of Bayesian Reasoning Training on the Results of Clinical Reasoning Tests of Interns

Introduction: Clinical reasoning includes a range of thinking about clinical medicine at all stages of patient evaluation. Bayesian theory can be used to refute or confirm differential diagnoses in the clinical reasoning process. In this way, by learning the basic mathematical language of probability in medicine, we can change our beliefs according to new evidence. The aim of this study is to i...

Characterization of diagnosability and repairability for self-healing Web Services

Executive Summary This deliverable reports on Task 5.1. It analyses the requirements for self-healability and foresees the implications on the design of Web Services, comparing to how Web Services are designed today. Starting from the concepts of diagnosability and repairability, it provides a characterization of self-healability that builds upon coupling the two later. The different faults, ob...

Dynamic Verification of Temporal Constraints in Production Workflows

Primitive support for time management has been recognised as one of the most significant limitations of today’s workflows. In this paper, we propose a new temporal model for production workflows. After introducing basic features of the temporal model, we describe two time visualisation concepts: the duration space and the instantiation space that are used respectively for representation of rela...

e-Science Tools For The Genomic Scale Characterisation Of Bacterial Secreted Proteins

Within bioinformatics, a considerable amount of time is spent dealing with three problems; heterogeneity, distribution and autonomy – concerns that are mirrored in this study and which eScience technologies should help to address. We describe the design and architecture of a system which makes predictions about the secreted proteins of bacteria, describing both the strengths and some weaknesses...
